Lecture Descriptions and Objectives:

Alleman: This lecture will cover the important points of the UHMS guideline on fitness for duty as an inside attendant. Until recently, there were no guidelines for fitness for duty for hyperbaric inside attendants.  The UHMS published these guidelines several years ago and they are currently being revised. The participant should learn about the guidelines published by the UHMS for inside attendants.  The participant should realize the importance of fitness for duty for working as an inside attendant.

DuBose: This lecture is a general overview of immersion pulmonary edema and will review clinical presentation, pathophysiology of the condition, clinical assessment, and treatment recommendations. At the end of this lecture, participants should feel more comfortable in considering immersion pulmonary edema as part of their differential diagnosis in clinical practice, and if diagnosed, recommending appropriate treatments for patients.

Alleman: This lecture will cover two cases that was seen at the hyperbaric unit in Memphis, TN.  Details will not be provided as this will be interactive with the audience. The two cases presented could be seen at any multiplace hyperbaric facility.  The rare diving case could be seen in any emergency room and treatment options will be discussed. Both of these cases happen infrequently and the learner should know how to manage these rare cases.

Neuman: This lecture will go over the cause of diving fatalities and what, if anything, the diving medical community might be able to do to reduce that number. The learner will be provided knowledge to Screen divers and diver candidates more appropriately

Pacheo-Pares: A case report is presented of a 71 year old male with almost 30 years of diving with approximately 700 dives who had a dive injury in 2023 concerning for immersion pulmonary edema. The learner will be able to recognize immersion pulmonary edema in patients diving and the precautions needed for future diving.

Spyratos: An overview will be provided f Arterial Gas Embolism and review of a recent case. We will discuss the appropriate pre-hospital and emergent treatment of Arterial Gas Embolism.

Moon: The lecture will briefly outline the presentation patterns of decompression illness (DCI) then provide detail regarding treatment. This will include recompression treatment tables as well as adjunctive

CME For MOC points are earned through completing a comprehensive evaluation component that assesses individual learner competence, performance, and/or the impact on patient outcomes. Some boards require evaluation feedback that will include a summary of what was discussed and the best next steps for the learner. The evaluation feedback will be provided to you upon submitting the evaluation form.

As an accredited ACCME provider, the UHMS is now responsible to submit physician learner CME credits into the ACCME PARS system. However, it is the physician’s responsibility to submit the necessary information required to match with the ACCME PARS system. It is also the physicians responsibility to check with their respective board(s) to see that the credits were applied accordingly.
